FSO Hardware Specialist

JMN has a great opportunity for an FSO Hardware Specialist! This position requires knowledge of and a moderate amount of field experience in basic building and construction of telecommunications hardware at the customer site. This individual must be very competent in the physical build activities and must be able to lead the building of the product utilizing job specifications and drawings with little or no guidance from others. This individual has the ability to lead others and may also perform power verification and preliminary hardware testing of out of service equipment. He/she must possess the knowledge and the abilities enabling him/her to complete the following responsibilities of the position and must be able to direct others in the various activities listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and direct installation activities, maintain records and conduct meetings as required
  • Ensure outage awareness process is followed on all projects
  • Interface with nic, ni, quality, gtac, tool room, & logistics as required
  • Act as a mentor to associate technicians
  • Performs power verification and power-up of equipment
  • Performs preliminary hardware testing in an 'out of service' environment
  • Perform complete functional testing on both in-service and out-of-service equipment on multiple product lines
  • Has the ability to implement quality control processes and never puts customer service at risk by deviating from these documents
  • Provide technical coaching, skill development, and assistance with day-to-day administrative responsibilities (i.e.ess, concur, documentation, etc)
  • Coordinate the installation, on-site and/or remote commissioning, network certification, and final cut performs all physical and mechanical installation activities
  • Performs power and grounding installation on equipment and small power plants, per the installation methods
  • Conducts work assignments, communicates, dresses and assists customer in a professional manner
  • Reads and stays current on installation documentation
  • Reads and interprets engineering specs, prints, and drawings
  • Physical lifting of a minimum of 25 pounds is required
  • Demonstrate a high competence in the use of personal computers and various software applications (email, excel, etc)
  • Maintain job records and administration tracking of assigned sites.
  • Ensures shipment accuracy of job-related material
  • Completes equipment and trash removal from site
  • Manage closing requirements for assigned sites
  • Responsible for coordinating, driving, and reporting site productivity milestones
  • Requirements may include being the 'lead' on a job site(s) and running the site(s) in conjunction with the site team leader who is in charge of several sites, for example

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates proper use of tools
  • 'Evening' or 'night' shift work required upon demand
  • Can plan, manage logistics and execute physical installation of hardware on one or multiple sites
  • Exhibit good communication and problem resolution skills
  • On the spot decision making is a critical part of the job
  • Must have proven ability to lead and direct assignments to meet delivery commitment to customer
  • Maintain a positive customer working relationship from start to completion of the installation
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
